A choreographic epic inspired by the legendary Trotteur — that man, that myth! — who could outrun horses, ships, and trains.

Follow five performers in a dynamic — and at times horse-like! — dance inspired by the spirit, drive, and madness of Alexis Lapointe (1860–1924), known as “the Horse-Man.”

Marginalized and misunderstood by those closest to him who couldn’t accept his eccentricity, this figure from Quebec folklore, gifted with extraordinary physical abilities, became for society a kind of sideshow hero, celebrated for his feats, admired with a mix of wonder and curiosity. How would Alexis, this eternal dreamer who dared to embrace his difference, be received today?

A hundred years after the Trotteur’s passing, Ample Man Danse pays tribute to him through a choreographic process blending contemporary dance and interactive staging, exploring how legends are born, driven by a character’s need for freedom and his longing to exist in the eyes of others.
